Coulthard spends more than 5mi euros for two 'beauties'
David Coulthard, a former Formula One driver who can be seen today commenting on the top discipline of motor sport for television, has never claimed F1 world champion. He participated in 247 Grand Prix (GP) races, during which he only won on 13 occasions (the first of which at the Portuguese Grand Prix in 1995) and has always been extremely popular. According to him, in a recent interview with Goodwood Road and Racing, it was this nice relationship with all the actors in F1 that allowed him to maintain excellent relations with Mercedes and Red Bull. To the point of being the few to guarantee one of the new Mercedes AMG One and Aston Martin Valkyrie.
It is clear that if the reader is trained in the financial area, or an accountant, he may be appalled by the fact that the former pilot and current commentator spent about € 2.8 million on Valkyrie and € 2.4 million on AMG One(In photo below). But after overcoming the initial shock, he will be able to appreciate what matters: Coulthard will be, when they deliver the two toys (Aston Martin later this year and the AMG One in 2020), owner of the two most effective sports cars of history. They are both lightweight, very sophisticated aerodynamically, with solutions inherited from the F1 and powerful, with the AMG One to promise more than 1,000 hp and the Valkyrie 1,176 hp. We are not talking about maximum speed (although the Valkyrie is 400 km / h) or necessarily acceleration from 0-100 km / h (where both should be below 3 seconds). The effectiveness here is to bend, lock and accelerate on the road and on the track, where nothing that exists on the market should be able to be so fast in a timed lap to a circuit.
David Coulthard confesses that he wanted to acquire Valkyrie mainly because he has been a fan of Adrian Newey's work since both were at McLaren and the AMG One because he considers himself a Mercedes man. And then there's the question of exclusivity, because if you're going to build 275 units of One, Valkyrie will only produce 150 units. Autonews
