CAPTIVA 2019: New generation of the model already available for Latin América
General Motors officially presented in Peru the new generation of the Chevrolet Captiva, a renewal of the American brand SUV that takes as a starting point the Chinese all-terrain Baojun 530.
The new Chevrolet Captiva 2019 will begin commercialization in Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Paraguay and Uruguay in the coming weeks. It will be available in 5 or 7 seat versions. The SAIC-GM-Wuling alliance has leveraged the synergy of its brands to launch this SUV in different markets with different emblems. The Chinese Baojun 530 gave a few days ago to MG Hector in India and now does the same with the Chevrolet Captiva in South America.
It is the same model, which outwardly retains its design virtually unchanged, only with the emblem changes and slight details in the shape of the front grille and the lights antineblina. It is simply three exactly alike vehicles, based on the Chinese model, which have been conveniently re-branded to adopt the visual identity of Chevrolet and MG, with only subtle exterior differences.
Where there are some differences is in the interior, since the Captiva has an infotainment system with smaller screen, instead of the huge 10-inch screen with vertical layout of the Indian model. But otherwise, the forms of the panel, instrumentation, steering wheel, among others, is almost overturned. The mechanical offer of the new Chevrolet Captiva 2019 for the South American markets is articulated based on a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine that develops 147 horsepower and a maximum torque of 230 Nm, arising coupled with a six-handed speeds, or a CVT-type automatic.
