Tesla's electrified electrician against BMW, Mercedes and Porsche
If there are luxury comparisons involving super-sporty family saloons, it is decidedly the case of this, carried out by the Carwow channel. The goal was to determine which would be the fastest to accelerate from 0 to 402 meters, which is equivalent to accelerating to almost 195 km / h in the fastest vehicles.
The Tesla Model S P100D, which has since changed the name to Long Range Ludicrous Performance, is always a hard-to-chew bone, but if it's unbeatable at 0-100km / h, from 0-195km / h the conversation is different. More so than its 612 hp (in the video, certainly by lapse, a power of 680 hp is mentioned, but although the arithmetic sum of the two engines reaches 772 hp, 510 hp behind and 262 hp ahead, it is modulated to a maximum set of 612 hp) have to pull 2,250 kg, a value much higher than the competition.
In front of the American electric, the new Mercedes-AMG GT 4 Portas, in the version 63S, that is, the best that this saloon, designed to beat the Panamera, has to offer. With a weight of 2,120 kg and a 4.0 V8 biturbo engine with 640 hp, the Mercedes promises to be an opponent to the height. As far as the BMW M5 Competition, the lightest of the four, accuses only 1,940 kg when placed on the scale, animated by a 4.4 V8 biturbo, with 625 hp. The Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid closes the batch of dreamy family, the heaviest, with 2,385 kg, which can be attributed to the all-wheel drive, an argument with which all the vehicles present count. The mechanics of Porsche, which claims 680 hp, actually takes 550 hp from 4.0 V8 biturbo gasoline, with the other 136 hp to be supplied by an electric unit, powered by a small battery of 14.1 kWh.
With the start of the race, the Tesla reached the quarter mile (402 meters) in 10.8 seconds, winning comfortably, with the Mercedes being the second fastest with 11.1 seconds, relegating its direct opponent, Porsche Panamera, for third, with 11.2 seconds. The BMW M5 was the slowest, with 12.4 seconds, but due to the regulation of launch control, with carwow saying that, optimizing the start, also the M5 Competition reached 11.1 seconds.
