Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer Concept is as Boxy as it is ElectricEngelberg Tourer Concept
Yet another electric crossover concept has debuted at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show in the way of the new Mitsubishi Engelberg Tourer Concept.
The Engelberg Tourer Concept represents Mitsubishi's vision for a future plug-in hybrid SUV. This big, boxy hybrid is powered by a Twin Motor 4WD hybrid plug-in EV 'powertrain that consists of a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, a 20kWh battery and an electric mounted at each axle. The 2.4-liter engine does not drive the wheels, only acting as a generator to charge the battery, which is mounted on the floor of the three-row SUV.

Mitsubishi claims this setup could offer an EV cruising range of over 70 km (43 miles) and a total cruising range of over 700 km (434 miles) with a fully charged battery and full fuel tank.
In addition to the new SUV concept, Mitsubishi also detailed its new at-home EV charging solution, which it calls the 'Dendo Drive House'. The system, which will be available at Mitsubishi dealerships going forward, combines bi-directional charger, solar panels and home battery, enabling owners to charge their vehicle at home using solar power and to supply electricity from their EV / PHEV to the home. This can help users save on gas costs for their car, along with electricity costs for their home. It also provides an emergency power source for the home as well.
