Colton Herta is the newest category winner
Colton Herta of Harding Steinbrenner Racing became the youngest winner in Indy history after winning his first Circuit of the Americas victory.
Herta was racing similarly with Penske's Will Power, and Andretti Autosport's Alexander Rossi, for most of the race, and a yellow-flagged period, prompted the 18-year-old to jump to the front of the grid , after Power and Rossi had pit problems.
Ten laps from the final, Herta managed to get away from Penske's Josef Newgarden and manage the gap when the relay was given, and began putting his name on Indy's history in its third race.
Newgarden had to settle for second place, despite having a large amount of push-to-pass on the restart, but could not do anything about Herta's pace in the final few laps.
Ryan Hunter-Reay finished the race where he started third, the category champion in 2012, failed to keep up with Power, Rossi and Herta for most of the race, and his pace The previous record holder of the youngest race winner in Indy, Graham Rahal had a solid race, getting several overtaking starts from his tenth starting position and finishing in fourth place.
Sebastien Bourdais, four-time champion in the category, also had a great race, leaving in 17th place after a tough qualifying session. The Frenchman made several difficult overtakes over his rivals, to cross the line in fifth place, showing that he still has a lot to offer.
Like his rivals in front of him, Marco Andretti also won several positions during the 60-lap race, qualifying a 20th place and finishing the race in sixth place.
