AUTONEWS

The valves evolved
The driving units that have served us so well in recent years are increasingly being the victims of constant and somewhat deserved persecution, even though they are far from being the main source of pollution on the planet in terms of CO2 , the reality is that they contribute a significant part of carbon dioxide. Gas that is not polluting by itself is the main cause of global warming that threatens our way of life.
There has been a lot of effort to reduce the consumption and emissions of this type of engine, but always in small percentages and "more to English see", that is, more to deceive the theoretical forms of determination of the consumption (and consequent emissions) than the volume of fuel burned by these engines. But new technologies are emerging that allow us to make an important leap forward in terms of practical results and, apparently, this is what the English of Camcon Automotive propose.
If it is through the valves that the combustion engine breathes, Camcon's goal is to end the tyranny of the crankshaft, which directly controls the movement of the valves. Instead of opening and closing only when engine speed permits, British technicians have been able to find a way in which they open and close when they want, ie when it is best for the engine, maximizing power and decreasing consumption.
This apparent miracle was achieved at the expense of the digitalization of the valves, which are now actuated by a digitally controlled electric motor and therefore, can enjoy infinite adjustments in terms of opening and closing timings, opening period and stroke.
Named Inteligent Valve Technology (IVT), the solution recommended by Camcon allows the crossing of valves of a competition engine, at a certain moment, from which more power is extracted, so that at the next moment the crossing and opening are minimal, reducing the power, but also the need for fuel, ideal for when we circulate in walking pace. This is not the first time that attempts have been made to dispense with the control of the valves from the crankshaft, but this time the solution found is simpler, cheaper and more functional. Camcon's technicians, who have been working on the basis of the Ingenium gasoline engine from Jaguar, announce that they have achieved huge reductions in pollutants, with IVT also getting a gasoline engine to consume as much as a diesel,a break of up to 20%.
