AUTONEWS

Subsidiar preço do diesel causa distorções, segundo especialistas
A non-polluting diesel engine

At the moment, Bosch's board members are moving in fully renewable diesel vehicles. It is C.A.R.E diesel, a fuel that, despite its name, dispenses diesel in its composition, but is synthesized from derived products and waste, recycled oils and grease. The promises are that their use reduces CO2 emissions by about two-thirds, or 65% in a well-to-wheels analysis. There are disadvantages, but we'll be there.
Who produces C.A.R.E. diesel are the Finns of Neste, a company specializing in biofuels and among other products, has developed the R33 Blue Diesel. But if this fuel, which is already being produced by Shell, only allows to lower CO2 emissions by 20%, C.A.R.E is three times more effective. So much so that its commercial designation, owned by Tool-Fuel (the company responsible for distribution in Germany), summarizes its main qualities: "CO2 Reduction, Arctic Grade, Renewable, How can 'diesel' be so effective in environmental footprint? Bosch explains that "the advantage of CO2 is only related to the fact that the CO2 emissions resulting from the conversion of waste materials into fuels are taken into account. The waste itself, as it already exists, is considered neutral in CO2. "Reduction of Emission".
As a renewable paraffinic fuel, C.A.R.E. is much more environmentally friendly, but the one that is your highest quality is also the one that causes you the biggest inconvenience. Being paraffinic, it has a slightly lower density and greater ignition capacity than conventional diesel. Hence the regulatory authorities felt the need to fit it into a specific standard, EN 15490. This means that the use of C.A.R.E. diesel requires that manufacturers approve this fuel for the model that is going to move, which will be of no importance considering that it is necessary to "investigate the compatibility of components, potential increases in peak pressure during combustion and other factors." The good news is that the technical updates should not be complicated, as there are already several test fleets to circulate using C.A.R.E. diesel.
However, do not expect to see this option on the market so quickly. Firstly, because this implies that the laws regulating the fuel sold at public payphones adopt such a standard EN 15490. Second, because this alternative to conventional gas oil is not yet available in sufficient quantity to provide on a large scale throughout Europe. Third, because even if it were, the price will necessarily reflect production costs, so a liter of C.A.R.E. diesel should be slightly more expensive than conventional diesel.
