Company hits another record: 83,500 cars sold
The American electric vehicle manufacturer announced sales and production for the third quarter of the year, during which it reached a new record. From July to September, Tesla produced 80,142 vehicles, 50% more than in the second quarter, and delivered the final customer 83,500 new models, which is also the best value ever. Among these, 55,840 were Model 3, 14,470 Model S and 13,190 Model X.The Model 3 is obviously the most manufactured car by the company, reaching 53,239 of the 80,142 vehicles produced, to which are added 26,903 units referring to the Model S and X. If in relation to the bigger and more expensive vehicles, the S and X, everything runs of with the brand to walk to achieve the goal, the 100,000 units in 2018, the same does not happen with Model 3.Of course, production capacity continues to increase, doubling that of the previous quarter, but the average for the quarter was 4,437 units per week for Model 3, still below the 5,000 pledged from July. This despite the fact that the brand announces that in the last weeks of September it reached an average of 5,300 Model 3 per week.Tesla reveals that the delivery of so many vehicles has caused some headaches, motivated in part by the brand's distribution system, which replaced a nationwide dealer network with a smaller chain of owned stores. This led to September ending still with 8,048 Model 3 and 3,776 Model S and X on trucks on the way to customers, which prevented it from being considered a higher sales volume. It remains to await financial data for the quarter, which the manufacturer has promised to be the first of many in which Tesla would announce operating profits, a novelty in a brand that has been damaged since it was born, except for two quarters in which sales of licenses of carbon to other US manufacturers of gasoline and diesel models offset the losses.
