TOURAN L: MORE EXCLUSIVE MODEL

On many occasions when we look at China and look at its auto market, we get the feeling that it is a market where virtually any model has its place. It does not matter if it is old or if it has been a long time since it became out of place, for example, in Europe. The Volkswagen Touran is a clear example of this. In the Chinese market Volkswagen markets the two generations of this veteran minivan.

To differentiate them commercially, the current generation of the model was named Volkswagen Touran L. To complete its expansion and consolidation plan in China, Volkswagen has scheduled a battery of new launches. And although it is certain that most of these new models will be SUVs, there is also still room for proposals as interesting as the new Volkswagen Cross Touran L.

This is not the first time the name of the Volkswagen Cross Touran has been mentioned. The first generation of the Touran already received this version in Europe, but with the change of generation it was lost in the forgetfulness. Now, Volkswagen resuscitates it, but only for China. And it is no surprise that they have chosen to market this 'crossover' model on the Asian giant. Anything that looks just like an SUV sells very well. At least for a while.

As you can see from the images below, the new Volkswagen Cross Touran L differs quickly from the conventional model thanks to a complete body kit that is made up of new bumpers and protections that use the entire lower part of the body. Wheel arches included. On the other hand, the protections painted in the silver color similar to aluminum, reinforce the idea of ​​being in front of a capable vehicle outside the asphalt.

The two visible exhaust vents and the longitudinal roof bars are other features of the Volkswagen Cross Touran L that will soon be landed at the Chinese dealers. The suspension has also been adjusted in order to increase the free height of the body in relation to the ground. It will have near-zero off-road capabilities, but it will be very useful to go to the cottage on weekends.

Regarding the mechanical part of the new Cross Touran L, Volkswagen will offer two options on the table, both with gasoline. On the one hand there will be a 1.4 liter TSI 150 hp engine and one step up will be a 1.8 liter TSI 180 hp engine. The two engines are coupled to a dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission.
