BRAND LEADS THE RUN FLAT TIRES SEGMENT AS ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT: MORE THAN 500 HOMOLOGATIONS ACQUIRED
Pirelli has strengthened its status as the preferred brand for premium and Prestige car manufacturers, as the more than 500 Run Flat tire approvals demonstrate. This is the technology that allows drivers to continue driving even with a hole, so they can reach the nearest dealer and change the tire. In total, there are 516 homologations of the Pirelli Run Flat tire: in other words, the tires that were chosen by the manufacturers as original equipment. This number consists of 326 homologations for summer tires, 100 for winter tires and 90 for tires in all seasons. As a result, Pirelli now has more than 2,800 manufacturer approvals for its product line.Alfa Romeo is the latest brand to have Run Flat Pirelli tires homologated on its Giulia. However, manufacturers like BMW, Cadillac, Dodge, Jeep, Mercedes-Benz, MINI and Rolls-Royce also use these tires. Even when the tire pressure monitoring system indicates sudden loss of pressure, these tires can continue to run for 80 kilometers at a top speed of 80 km / h. The side wall structure is specially designed to support the weight of the car, ensuring a safe ride to the nearest tire dealer. Pirelli's custom-built self-support system uses special reinforcements inserted into the sidewalls of the tires, which are able to withstand the vertical and horizontal loads of the car.Pirelli's Run Flat technology is available on P Zero, Cinturato, Scorpion Winter, Winter Sottozero 3 and Winter Sottozero Series II lines. Consequently, the line is capable of covering 97% of installations in sizes of 18 inches or greater, with 24 unique product codes: these are the sizes that no other tire manufacturer sells. Pirelli is the leader in the Run Flat segment, as far as tires are concerned for use in summer, winter or for use in all seasons.Run Flat technology responds to the requirements of car manufacturers of the Prestige and Premium segments, to a level of customization made specifically for the technical characteristics of the vehicles. Throughout the development process, which takes between two and three years, the work of Pirelli engineers is in partnership with automobile manufacturers, aiming to develop specific tires that are distinguished by a special marking on the side of the product. For every manufacturer, there is a tailor-made tire - which is at the heart of Pirelli's Perfect Fit strategy.
