JORGE LORENZO WINS BY DUCATI
Jorge Lorenzo arrived at Mugello under pressure and did not disappoint. In a performance that recalls his good times aboard the Yamaha, the Spaniard dominated the track of Tuscany practically from end to end on Sunday (3) and finally reached the first triumph for the Ducati.Leaving second, # 99 made a beautiful start - as he had been doing in the recent stages of MotoGP - and took the lead from Valentino Rossi in the first few meters. From there, the 'old Lorenzo' made his masterful return, firing at the end without giving anyone another chance. The fight for second place, on the other hand, was not much more lively. After an excellent start, Marc Márquez took the position of Rossi, but was little there, as a fall on Scarperia still in the fifth lap of the race sent the # 93 to the bottom of the peloton. The # 46, then, inherited the position, but was surpassed by Andrea Dovizioso soon after.Dreaming of a revival like last year, Dovizioso tightened his pace and isolated himself in second, leaving the competition to swerve for third place. With the passing lap, Rossi, Andrea Iannone and Danilo Petrucci passed by, but the decisive moment came six laps to the end as Valentino passed Pramac's rival to secure his place on the podium in Tuscany.
Iannone also repositioned and came to press the Yamaha rider, but had his attempt canceled by 'Doctor' (Rossi).
