PEUGEOT 308 GTI 2020 BETWEEN ELETRIFICATION AND TOTAL TRACTION
With five years on its back, the current generation of the Peugeot 308, which was renewed last year, is nearing the end of its life cycle. The new generation of the French compact is already under development and although the French brand has not yet disclosed anything about this new model, the first information has already begun to emerge. The new Peugeot 308 2020 will be developed on the EMP2 platform, an architecture that will allow it to have larger dimensions, with an extended wheelbase and a slightly longer body with a length that can reach 4.30 meters. This will translate into a larger passenger compartment with a better use of the interior space, especially for passengers in the rear. The adoption of this new architecture will also reduce its weight thanks to the use of lightweight materials and new assembly techniques that combine traditional welding with glue welding. This will further improve torsional rigidity, which will translate into improved cornering performance and improved dynamic behavior.Another of the relevant news of the new generation of the Peugeot 308 GTI is related to its motorization, since the new 308 GTI 2020 will bet on a hybrid propulsion system, which will combine a gasoline engine with two electric motors. It will have full traction, as the two electric motors will each connect to an axis and a combined total power of 300 hp. On the other hand, the new 308 GTI can also circulate in purely electric mode, with an autonomy that will extend for up to 60 kilometers.Regarding the equipment, in this new generation, the 308 will offer the latest in driving assistance, including autonomous braking in the city, assisted parking, and even level 2 autonomous driving.
