GM DEFENSE: A DIVISÃO MILITAR DA GENERAL MOTORS ESTARÁ EM OPERAÇÃO EM 2018 Imagens e fotos de carro
GENERAL MOTORS MILITARY DIVISION WILL BE IN OPERATION STILL THIS YEAR
A new American press release confirms what many have already said, General Motors will once again activate its defense division, GM Defense, to develop and commercialize technology, especially for US Army divisions. In recent years GM has introduced two prototypes equipped with hydrogen cell technology, the last one during the last quarter of last year and with clear military purposes. But it was when they discovered the registration of a new logo for this division that rumors gained strength and pointed to the reactivation of the missing GM Defense.According to the staff of Automotive News, this division will be fully operational by the end of this year and its main activity will be the development of vehicles and defense technology, although it is not really known in which projects may be currently working, in addition to the prototypes already presented .In early October 2016 Chevrolet introduced the Chevrolet Colorado ZH2 FCEV Concept prototype, a somewhat stiffer version of the brand's average pick-up, with numerous modifications and a distinctly military look. But its main novelty was electric mechanics fueled by electricity generated by a hydrogen fuel cell that was presented at the annual meeting of the United States Army Association and featured a very flamboyant camouflage decoration.

The SURUS mobile platform
In principle it was thought to be just a concept to be shown at the event, but a year later, in October 2017, GM unveiled the new SURUS ('Silent Utility Rover Universal Superstructure') platform with an autonomous driving system and powered by hydrogen fuel cell. SURUS is a structure that serves as a common base for multiple types of vehicles, thanks to a system of modules, it can house different types of platforms with different functions, such as the loading platform of a truck.
It is clear that GM wants to capitalize on its efforts in terms of hydrogen cells and autonomous drive systems with this new division, which had closed in 2003 when it was sold to General Dynamics for $ 1.1 billion.
