A GEELY OF PROPOSAL 

Geely has unveiled an attractive SUV typology concept at the Beijing Motor Show in 2018, with a striking design, and although we may find some inspiration in various models of the competition, such as the Range Rover Evoque, the truth is that it is a sample of the advancements in terms of design and technology of the Chinese corporation.Those who still regard China as a less demanding market and their local brands as second-tier manufacturers will be pleasantly surprised by this prototype as it is the perfect example of the evolution of companies such as Geely, which today is the parent company of prestigious brands such as Volvo and Lotus.And it is not only a flashy design that can be found in this concept, since underneath its skin comes a first level technical base, since it sits on the platform CMA of Volvo, the same used to develop the Volvo XC40 and all models of the Lynk & Co. Although the exterior level does not seem to be related to these models, the fact is that the new Geely Icon shares many elements with them.

The Geely Icon Concept is a compact size crossover proposition, and although the brand has not revealed its dimensions, at first glance it seems not to be much larger than the Volvo XC40, with which it shares the chassis. The mechanics underneath the hood have not been revealed, but given that it is based on the CMA platform, it can equip any of the mechanical options developed for this architecture.

The traits are very attractive, as flashy as little as possible, as in any model of conceptual nature. It has a typical compact crossover profile, although its features are very aggressive, with the thin headlights and the marked arches of the wheels. The most peculiar features of Icon are the suicidal opening of the rear doors and the absence of the B-pillar.

Behind the huge doors is a very spacious and bright passenger compartment, for much of the ceiling is made of glass, with large benches of daring shapes and a plethora of canvases, with two large screens behind the front seats, as well as the usual large central screen. The panel, as well as the central tunnel and door trims, feature attractive shapes, decorated with ambient LED lighting and coatings with modern textures.
