Mercedes GLC 250d 4MATIC 9G-TronicKnown in the previous generation, and even by the people of the house, as the "little square", the truth is that there is little left of this entry SUV (at that time, there was not even the current extended compact family of today ...) in today's GLC. Which, 12 cm longer and 5 cm wider than the already forgotten predecessor, stands out, precisely, for the more rounded and even robust forms. In addition to, of course, more modern and identified with that which is the design language in force in the star brand models.







Inside
From the interior, there are also substantial differences with regard to the GLK, with the exception of, perhaps, the high quality of construction (evolved from the predecessor, of course ...) and even better materials, in a functional and ergonomically convincing cabin, any of the doors, well positioned and intuitive controls to operate, and various storage spaces, generally closed and of good capacity. Exception: the glove compartment, far less usable than we were expecting.


In a cabin where the driving position does not hide the fact that we are aboard an SUV, showing up high enough for proper access to all the controls and visibility around (the exception is even the rear visibility, the "ask" the inclusion of the rear camera), thanks also to the possibility of regulation in height and depth of seat (with good lateral support) and steering wheel (of excellent handle), also emphasizes for the habitability, optimum, especially when without passenger in the middle place. Where a more prominent type of bench, along with an intrusive transmission tunnel, recommend the use of this place in a spacing and preferably by children.Already in the luggage compartment, compliments to the access and load plan, thanks also to a generous door of opening / closing by electrical system. And it is important to add an initial load capacity of 550 liters, which can reach up to 1600 liters, by easy and practical (and completely horizontal) folding of the back of the back seats (buttons on the sides of the back and the bag ), as well as a great trapdoor underneath the false floor, to the full size of the space (it's only worth noting that the floor is not smooth ...), excellent coatings and even not one but two LED light points.


Equipment
Captivating in appearance and touch, the unit we tested was nevertheless filled with many options. As was the case of the AMG (parking aid system + AMG Line exterior + AMG Line Interior), for € 3,750; of the technological package Off-Road (five modes of conduction + DSR + specific programming of motor and box + suspension Air Body Control + Protection inferior metallic), for 2,650 €; of the Keyless-Go pack (Hand-Free Access + Keyless Go + EasyPack + Keyless-Go Starting gate), for 400 €); Comand Online (DVD + Speed ​​Limit Wizard + Live Traffic Information + Linguatronic), for € 2,500; Burmester Sound System for € 950; of LED lights, for € 1,750; or the reversing chamber for € 500. This, among many more items.Even so, and being willing to abdicate these equipments, be sure that, from the entry version, halogen headlamps with LED daytime running lights, 17 "alloy wheels, front chrome trim and rear view mirrors, electric and electrically adjustable exterior mirrors, rain and light sensors, fabric upholstery, front seats with electric seatback tilt, interior trim on black piano, Thermatic and Direct Select air conditioning with tabs and direction. In addition to, in the field of technology, Cruise Control, 4MATIC all-wheel drive, Attention Assist, ESP with Curve and Crosswind assist, electric park brake, tire pressure monitoring system, ABS, Collision Prevention Assist Plus, airbags (also for driver's knees) and retractable pedals in case of safety.


Equipped with 4MATIC all-wheel drive, with a power distribution that can reach 45:55, it is a guarantee of efficiency and safety on almost all floors, the already known system of driving modes Dynamic Select that allows to adapt the responses of the engine, (Comfort, Sport, Sport + and the configurable Individual, in addition to the Echo already mentioned), there is no shortage of basic arguments capable of allowing this German SUV to have above-average dynamic competence. With the model also take advantage of a direction of progressive set-up, good level of precision and reasonable feedback, to ensure good curve trajectories, as well as good performance - almost as much as comfort! - even when on more degraded floors.


By the way and since we speak of bad floors, a word equally for the offoroad aptitudes of this GLC. A proposal that, while not concealing the need for some caution in approaching the most trilelic trajectories, even because it does not pretend to be more than a competent challenger of dirt roads, even with some gravel or mud to the mixture, does not leave, in the case to be equipped with the aforementioned Off-Road pack and air suspension, with surprising arguments to surprise! Resulting, in large part, from the way it manages to "equip" the GLC for the most varied types of floor, be they slippery, as is the case of snow, but that do not require more height in the distance to the ground; of land and with rocks, in which there is danger of the car falling, necessitating, therefore, of more height to the ground, than properly speed (limited to 20 km / h); steep climbs, where the rear suspension is in charge of leveling the car further, keeping the top speed at 20 km / h; or even towing situations, in which the car needs to compensate for the larger weight behind. Anyway, solutions for a number of situations ... even if paid as extra, since it is an optional.
