Committed to complying with emissions and noise reduction regulations in force in Europe, EMOSS Mobile Systems has developed an electric truck equipped with an Allison transmission that has a range of more than 480 kilometers. The EMOSS Electric Truck with Extended Autonomy (E.V.E.R.) - uses a 120 kWh battery and a liquefied petroleum gas powered generator to recharge its battery and achieve maximum autonomy. It is also equipped with a Allison 4500 fully automatic transmission, which enables it to carry a combined gross weight of up to 50 metric tons."For us, the Allison transmission proved to be the right combination to deliver the best performance," said Martijn Noordam, chief technology officer, EMOSS. "Customers who drove our trucks equipped with an Allison transmission were 100% satisfied. They never imagined that a duty cycle with a 30% degree of walking and to be realistic, but the truck performed the task perfectly. "Calibrated to use six speeds ahead with the fully loaded truck, Allison transmissions are ideal for carrying heavy loads and for traveling through challenging topographies in countries such as Switzerland and Austria, where mountain trails and steep slopes ."Allison remains committed to the evolution and optimization of transmission trains and all forms of commercial vehicle propulsion," said Randy Kirk, Allison's senior vice president of product engineering. "The Allison automates provide a proven, immediate and well integrated solution enabling electrification in a wide range of commercial applications."Allison automatic transmissions are essential to the powertrain. They multiply the torque to reduce energy demands on the electric motor and battery. They also enable the engine to operate within the optimum efficiency range to provide a longer cycle of driving, reducing power consumption, extending the reach of the vehicle and enabling the use of cheaper, lighter and smaller componentes.

EMOSS informs that the E.V.E.R. equipped with an Allison, produced from a DAF chassis, will be unveiled in November at eCarTec in Munich, Germany, and plans to begin evaluating pilot customers by the end of the year. In addition to the E.V.E.R model, EMOSS has also been developing electric trucks equipped with Allison transmissions to be used in applications such as construction, delivery and waste collection. These activities include dump trucks, midsize trucks, trash compactors, and additional semi-trailer configurations.
With more than a decade of experience in electric mobility and extensive knowledge in the development and integration of powertrain, EMOSS is also a constant partner of bus and truck manufacturers. Under its own brand, EMOSS produces electric trucks, buses and vans, as well as auxiliary battery systems.
