Sauber presents the C37
The beginning of a new era. Sauber / Alfa Romeo's first car was presented today and symbolizes hope for a better future for the Swiss team.Joerg Zander, responsible for the design of the car, said that the aerodynamic concept of the machine has been completely revised and is very different from what existed in the C36:"We are confident that the new philosophy will open up more opportunities and allow us to improve greatly throughout the year."With the support of Ferrari, Sauber hopes to make a qualitative leap and fight on an equal basis with Haas and Toro Rosso. After a year in the tail of the pack, the desire is to return to the fights in the middle of the table and bother teams like Renault or Force India in some races, but there is the notion that this will only be possible under certain conditions and that for 2018 the focus will be on improving the chassis, an area where the team needs to evolve a lot before thinking about higher flights

Vasseur said earlier that the team needed to find a medium-term plan to follow, just as Force India did in the past. The priority was placed on aerodynamics, which needed to be revised, and this new concept is the answer to that need. The road is long but strong support from Ferrari, which will provide upgraded engines, is important in the task of putting Sauber back on track for success.The color scheme did not change much compared to the one presented, when the partnership was officially signed, as red and white to be the strong colors, with the Alfa Romeo symbol in prominence. At the drawing level, contrary to what might be expected, there are no great similarities to the Ferrari of 2017, and the car preserves some traits that characterized the Sauber C36.
