SEAT's commitment to sustainable and electric mobility will arrive through its expected electric car of its own design and development. A model whose arrival is expected to begin in the next decade and from which new details emerge. Thanks to the use of the MEB platform developed by Volkswagen, SEAT staff will be able to create their long-awaited all-electric mechanics vehicle. Its launch will happen sometime in the year 2020, marking the beginning of the Martorell brand's electric offensive. It will be a compact hatchback type car and whose size will be similar to the SEAT Leon. The images show two recreations based on information and statements made by Matthias Rabe, VP of Research and Development of SEAT, to the British Auto Express. Rabe commented: "The first model we will launch on the MEB platform will be smaller than the seven-seat SUV we will be presenting soon. It will be similar to León, but with a more spacious interior. "

Thanks to the use of the aforementioned platform, the SEAT electric car can accommodate the battery pack on the floor of the vehicle, thus avoiding the loss of space in the passenger compartment and leaving more cargo in the trunk. Rabe also gave the example of the next generation of Volkswagen Golf when it comes to talking about the size of this electric future. Although he emphasized that the model of the SEAT will have a greater inter-axle distance.
It seems that SEAT is considering three denominations to baptize this expected vehicle: Born, E-Born and Born-E. All three were recorded only a few months ago. The name 'Born' refers to the neighborhood of El Born, located in the city of Barcelona.
SEAT plans to market two versions of its new electric car. The top-of-the-line option will deliver superior performance and power. When questioned about his starting price, Matthias Rabe signaled that it will cost about the same as the SEAT Ateca. And finally, he said that "the car is 95% ready, having already defined the main aspects of it."
