Flavio Briatore: "I hope Alonso can return to the podium this year"

Flavio Briatore expects Fernando Alonso to be back on the podium as early as 2018. Alonso's manager, and former Renault boss, was among those who helped match the Spaniard's trip to McLaren-Honda. The Italian supports Alonso's decision to remain in the British team for a fourth consecutive year, this time with the Renault engine.
"Fernando's extra time at McLaren is proof of his loyalty to the team. Fernando never expected to encounter so many reliability problems with the Honda engine.
