Brand introduces new revamped Transit line
Ford continues to revamp its line of light commercial vehicles. Following the new Ford Tourneo Connect and Tourneo Courier 2018, the blue oval brand updates the Transit family. These news are part of the product revolution that Ford will experience in Europe in the next 18 months.Of the four models that make up the Ford Transit line, the new versions that now appear are Connect and Courier. These two new models incorporate novelties relevant both aesthetically and technologically and mechanically. The first units will reach the dealers by the middle of next year. Its commercialization will start from the second quarter of 2018.The new Ford Transit Connect 2018 comes with a redesigned front design, which adopts the new philosophy that the brand has been following. The new grille combines very attractively with headlights that incorporate LED lights for daytime running. Some adjustments were also made in the aerodynamic plane with a front skirt and a modified front lower part.Taking a look at the interior of the new Transit Connect comes a revised instrument panel and a new center console that incorporates a 6.0-inch floating touchscreen that uses the SNYC 3 infotainment system. Another novelty was the use of new materials of greater quality and resistance to the long working hours that are faced by this type of vehicle.Driving assistance systems receive new technologies such as intelligent speed limiter, emergency braking with pre-collision assist and pedestrian detection, side wind stabilizer and active parking assistant.The line of engines debuts important news. Among them, the new 1.5 liter EcoBlue diesel engine stands out. The gasoline offering incorporates an improved version of the 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine with cylinder deactivation system. All engines are standard with a six-speed manual transmission. Optionally, the EcoBlue diesel engine can be combined with an eight-speed automatic transmission.As with the previous model, the new Transit Connect is offered with short and long chassis options with load volumes of up to 3.6 m3, payload capacity between 520 and 890 kg.
The new Ford Transit Courier is the smallest member of the Transit family. The new model, as well as the Connect version, debuts a new front according to the new language of design of Ford. In its interior, the flagship is the redesigned center console with a 6.0-inch touchscreen for the SYNC 3 infotainment system.The new Ford Transit Courier 2018 positions itself as a light commercial vehicle ideal for the delivery of goods in urban areas. It has a real load capacity ranging from 500 to 590 kilos, cargo volumes of up to 2.4 m3 (VDA) and a variety of bodies.Mechanically, its engine offering is comprised of 1.5-liter TDCi diesel blocks and 1.0-liter EcoBoost gasoline. All come equipped with the new six-speed manual transmission that arrives to take the place of the manual transmission of five ratios. Optionally, and for greater efficiency, it can be equipped with a package that integrates better aerodynamics with Active Grid Lock, which improves heating times and reduces aerodynamic drag
