Flavio Briatore: "These Formula 1 engines suck"
The 67-year-old Italian was one of the strongest names in F1 in the past and although he is far from the competition, he regularly gives his opinion. For the former chief of Benetton and Renault these engines are the root of the problem of Formula 1:"These engines are pure stupidity. We are constantly talking about the electric ones, but the batteries pollute even more. The FIA did something nonsense and besides making engines that spoiled the F1, with the lack of noise, they did it in an extremely expensive way! "Briatore liked F1 to follow the example of MotoGP where penalties are rarer: "Max Verstappen is the new F1 star but they are trying to 'kill' him with too many penalties. The riders must fight each other on the track. In the Motos nobody plays, there are fights wheel with wheel at 300km / h and people like and watch in increasing numbers. "Briatore began in F1 without much interest, having been appointed as commercial director of Benetton. He soon found himself in the role of director of the team from which the story is known. He called Barnard and Schumacher for the team and built the base that was to be hugely successful with a bi-champion in 94 and 95. Briatore began to invest more and more in F1 until arriving at Renault, when the French brand bought Benetton and replaced Rocco Benetton for Briatore, who had already left the team. It was then that Alonso went to the French team and the success is the one that is known. He was also manager of Webber, Trulli, Kovalainen. His career was packed with cases, most notably in the case of spying with McLaren and Singapore's 'Crashgate', which dictated his departure from the sport. One thing is certain, 'discounting' the 'character' that is Briatore, was always focused on the part of the entertainment of F1, pointing the finger at how F1 has become a sport too technical-oriented instead of fans and Show. Again this position is clear.
