CAMERON GLICKENHAUS
NEW SCG 004S, THREE PLACES OF 650 HP AND 400,000 DOLLARS
The Cameron Glickenhaus team unveiled their new model, the SCG 004S. A street sportsman, like its predecessor, the SCG 003S is born as a street model, but aimed at the competition, and already announce future versions for different sports categories.Unlike the SCG 003S, which featured a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 engine, the new model features a V8 5.0-liter twin turbocharger that delivers 650 hp and 720 Nm of maximum torque, coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission , although it is also available with an automatic option with fins on the steering wheel. The manual option is the one that appears in the presentation images and has a nice chrome handle inspired by the traditional manual levers of Ferrari.
But its greatest peculiarity is found in the passenger compartment, because it has a configuration of 3 seats, with the pilot located in the center and noticeably more advanced, in the style of the classic McLaren F1. The panel is also centered, forming a very symmetrical and very classic looking control station, with large analogue white-spherical watches and a classic-looking 3-spoke steering wheel with no airbag. At the base of the seat several commands come from both sides, with the lever to the right, which has a retractable base for smartphones and a small console to control several parameters of a lap in circuit, such as distance and average speed.
His aesthetic is very particular, and does not look anything like his predecessor. In the front we find some traits of the Ferrari P4 / 5 Pininfarina, a one-off based on a Ferrari Enzo that was commissioned by Glickenhaus to Pininfarina some good years ago for his personal use, and that became the origin of the project of the Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus . His profile is very sharp, but the arches of muscled wheels and almond-shaped headlights slightly resemble the Italian model. The cabin is cockpit-type, with a large glazed surface and does not actually have a roof, curved windows attach to the windshield at the top on two large masts. The result is a glass-like bubble-like ceiling in its entirety.
Another of its identity passwords are its integrated airfoils, both at the rear, connecting both wheel arches, and at the front, since from the base of the headlights what appears to be the nose is actually an airfoil, situated higher than the true front hood.
The treatment of the C-pillar is very reminiscent of the Ford GT 2017, with a large negative surface after the false pillar, which is accentuated in the top view. Clearly, in that part, it was inspired by the Ford model, including the air ducts that come underneath this pillar and end at the rear on the sides of the exhaust area.
This model will be marketed in a limited series of 250 annual units and will have a starting price of $ 400,000. The first 25 units, called 'Founders Edition', will be delivered between 2018 and 2019. Later on, the promised GT3 and GTE / GTLM versions will be available, with a 'C' in their name, SCG 004C.
