DAIHATSU
DN TO BE REVEALED TO THE PUBLIC IN THE TOKYO HALL
The opening day of the Tokyo Motor Show 2017 is coming and the brands are beginning to advance images of the models that will be leading to the Japanese event. Among the novelties that Daihatsu has prepared to display in its booth in Tokyo, is this conceptual work called Daihatsu DN Compagno Concept. This prototype is a kind of modern version of the model that Daihatsu manufactured in the 1960s, a vehicle that was offered in several versions of body: coupe, convertible, sedan and even turkey. For this occasion, the Compagno, which is based on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture, adopts a four-door body, with the rear doors hidden behind the rear pillar, which added to the pronounced slope of the roof, offers the new Compagno with a coupe look.
Outwardly it adopts a retro style with a chrome front grille with vertical bars, chrome frames on the sides and even with the Daihatsu logo of old design. The body is painted in two colors, and includes a panoramic glass roof.
The interior combines some 'retro' design elements, such as the shape of its aluminum and leather steering wheel, and the dashboard with the latest technologies. The control panel has two large analog spheres for the main functions, plus a TFT screen in its center for the on-board computer. In the central console there is a large touch screen that groups the functions of the infotainment system, in addition to the air conditioner and the integrated navigator. The upholstery is of fabric and combines the colors gray and black with the seams in red, managing to give a sporty touch to the set.The mechanics chosen to drive the Daihatsu DN Compagno was a hybrid propulsion system based on a naturally aspirated 1.2-liter petrol engine that comes coupled with a CVT-type automatic transmission. For now the Japanese brand has not provided more information about this prototype, but it will be possible to know better after its debut at the Tokyo Salon 2017, which will take place from 25 October this month.
