In 2018 all BMW will have digital assistant
BMW has chosen Amazon's digital assistant, Alexa, as the 'travel companion' for drivers of all its cars and selected Mini models for 2018.
The Verge says that the presence of the digital assistant in cars will allow drivers to use voice commands to hear the news and predict the weather. It will also be possible to access other compatible applications through Alexa.
The integration of Alexa will put microphones inside the car, with the digital assistant taking advantage of the car screen to display visual content. "It's a complete, wide-ranging set of internet capabilities that is now available within your car," one of the BMW executives said when attending today's Amazon event in Seattle.
