Volkswagen continues to improve its work with Robo-Taxi called SEDRIC. The German brand presented its advances in this vehicle in the Frankfurt Motor Show. There is no steering wheel because it is a stand-alone unmanned car capable of carrying up to four people and their luggage.
SEDRIC is one of the models in which the Volkswagen Group is working to reach level 5 of autonomous driving. Which means completely eliminating the need for a driver. In the same line is also being developed the new Audi Aicon, which although still conserve the front seats facing the direction of travel, does not have a steering wheel or pedals.

Volkswagen has confirmed that the prototype will be the start of a new line of models. In the words of Volkswagen Group CEO Matthias Müller: "Our team is already working on ideas so that the SEDRIC line satisfies the needs of a whole family. This implies vehicles ranging from a fully autonomous to the city to spectacular sports cars, passing luxury cars for long distance routes. We are also working on freight pickups and heavy duty trucks ?? ".The Volkswagen Group predicts that all of these vehicles will use 100% electric motors and level 5 stand-alone driving technology. Something that will allow them "a simple, sustainable and safe mobility for everyone with a single push of a button."While some people are reluctant to hand over control of the vehicle to a computer, Johann Jungwirth, Volkswagen's director of digital development, said in the presentation that SEDRIC will provide a "huge social contribution" as it will help visually impaired move in the car without depending on anything. The Robo-Taxi SEDRIC was decorated with two lines, one white and one red, and the number 42 on the sides, to give it a look of taxi of the future. In the interior also have been changed the banks, which are face to face, in the style of British taxis, with the option of folding them to extend the space available for luggage.
